Hi, I'm "Bob"..age 72,retired Metallurgical/Materials Engineer in the greater Chicago area and "jack of most trades". I played grade school band under Forrest McAllister and Chuck Peters after taking 3 months of lessons from a trombone player. Played under A.R.McAllister and Bruce Houseknecht in h.s. and took 3 more months of lessons under Clarence Warmerlin. After that I never touched a horn until a year ago when my old h.s. decided to form an "alum band" and I joined and had a ball. Now play with our junior college comm.band and love it. I maintain my own horns because I'm an original "do-it-yourselfer" and am trying to learn restoring. Enjoy most of the submittals and appreciate the good "tips". Most recently I "discovered" eBay and it's been my downfall as I now own 6 horns going on 7. Currently play and love my E-11s and wonder if the R-13 will be that much better. I am rather opinionated at times like most old geezers but have a great sense of humour which is not always appreciated, I'm sure. Only advice I have is for the youngsters which is don't ever stop playing.
