I'm engeneer and I deal with air quality issues in Santiago, at the National Environmental Commission (such as PM10, ozone an so on). I'm 40, married with two children (6 and 5). My wife plays guitar and flute, my sons play toys drums. We play at church with a group of friends and I play with woodwind quintet, more classic and romantic repertoire, sometimes we join other player to perform octets (as Kromer, Mozart, Beethoven, Lachner, Gounod). I love trekking, we have a lot of mountains in Chile, and origami (paper folding). We have spent one year in France (1999-2000) when I did studies on environment engeneering, it was a wonderful experience.

I'm 22 and a music major education major in Southern California. I originally went to college in AZ, but have since transfered here. I play in orchestra, wind ensemble, and various chamber ensembles. I used to play sax in jazz band, but it's been a little over a year since I quit.

Greetings:
I'm an association exec in Washington DC. After playing some in High School band in the late 60's, I only dabbled with my clarinet until about five years ago when I embraced it again. Now I play on weekends a lot, mostly standards of the 30's and 40's, which seem perfect for the instrument, especially the 40's. I keep searching for music from that era, have most of the standard fake books etc. but can't get enough. Have yet to find fellow players for duets etc.

I am a lawyer age 54 & live in Tallahassee Fl (the home of the dimpled chad). I special in ordinance codification (don'd ask). I am married. My wife (first & only wife---married 1-7-95) has had ovarian cancer since 2000 and just got out of her second series of chemo treatments. I am an amateur clarinet player & play at my church & in the community band. I started clarinet in the 4th grade, switched to sax in the 8th grade. In 1982 I again took up the clarinet. I still play the sax also. My wife plays the flute. We met in church because her daughter was in our church orchestra.

A newbie to the clt, but I've been playing the sax (tenor and bari) for four years. I couldn't read a note before that. I've taken up clt so I can double when I play with the dance bands that occasionally ask me to sub-in. -- My first two years, I practiced two to three hours a day, every day - yes, you can find the time.
My wife started clt about two years ago (I bought her an R-13 for her b'day) and visits sneezy on occasion. Our sons both play, 15 yo on t-bone, 11 yo on t-pet. Brass, oh well!

Hi!
I'm a 20yr old Music Ed major at Southwest Texas State University. Originally from Penitas, TX, I made myself a hillcountry native when I came to school here two falls ago. I play in the wind ensemble, and have made performance cameos in the SWT Orchestra and Symphonic Band.
I'm currently getting ready for the annual SWT Concerto/Aria Competition which is being held later this afternoon. I'm playing the Polacca from Weber's 2nd Concerto I'm using the board as a means to stay relaxed and mentally sound before I have to play.
My future projects include: Getting the Bernstein up and ready for my Upper Level review at the end of this semester, Purchasing a set of Buffet Vintages in early August as well as purchasing a mouthpiece/barrel set for each from Robert Scott. Perhaps if the recording of today's performance is good, I'll put up a free download link somewhere.

I will tell you about me and allow Mindy to tell you about herself since as most teenagers do, they don't want their mom's telling anything about them.
So -- I am a graduate of the Stetson University School of Music with a BME in music ed with an emphasis in voice and piano. I have taught literally hundreds of piano students over the years sinc eI was one of those who started teaching when I was still in high school (yes-- someo fyou don't think that is a good idea - oh well). I got married and had a baby before I graduated from college and only taught one year of school before I knew I needed to stay home with my (by that time) 2 precious girls. I homeschooled them and we gave them EVERY opportunity to do whatever they felt like doing artistically or athletically. Mindy ice skated at the opening ceremonies of the 1992 US Figure Skating Championships before she decided in 4th grade that she wanted to play the clarinet (she had tried piano and violin also). Ginny is an Irish Step dancer who qualified for world competition last year (it was cancelled because of the hoof and mouth disease). Ginny plays oboe/english horn and plays piano also (in jazz band at the school she atends for band only!) We have been very fortunate to be able ot get the girls the best instruments that we can afford -- Mindy is on her 3rd clarinet (a french "no name", e-11 and now R-13) and also has a LeBlanc eb that she loves to play and it drives her daddy "mad". Ginny has a full conservatory model with 3rd octave Cabart oboe and a full conservatory with 3rd octave Loree english horn. We live in a LITTLE house -- 2 bedrooms and one bath -- so that we can afford for them to have lessons with Stetson professors, great horns and for me to stay home. I just recently resigned as pianist from our church after 19 years on the bench. I am the director of the Southern Winds, a woodwind ensemble, made up of 5 middle adn high school students. I love working with them each and every Saturday and trying to keep their egos in check. They are all VERY good and rank very high in the state and county.
Well -- I have rambled on long enough and I am sure that there are only a FEW of you who have actually read all this so I will sign off. I love reading the posts on this board and have continued my education here.

Hello, my name is William.....and I am a Clarinet Addict!!! I used to support my "habit" as a public school band and orchestra teacher (34yrs), but since retirement three years ago, I have been relying mostly on playing orchestral and jazz gigs for the finacial means to buy food and musical paraphernalia. My long-suffering, non-musically addicted wife of 27 yrs (who puts up very well with my musical binges), is a fifth-grade teacher and my daughter (who picked up the clarinet addiction from her father, but keeps it under better control) is completing her teaching degree, with elementart certification, this spring, at the Universithy of Wisconsin--Madison. I still do occassional substitue teaching for my old schood district, enjoy the sport of curling (season just ending), and as a retired husband, I am learning various hereto unknown chores the need to be performed daily around the house. Our dog Bailey, is a chocolate lab molestor of socks, shoes, sticks, TV remotes--anything left lying about unsupervised. He, too, does well in spite of my constant playing--he just goes to sleep. Well, the "habit" is calling me....and I must give in. Clarineting--I just can't quit!!! (Never, I hope) Good Clarineting, and Welcome, Newbies.

Hi all,
Originally from France, I am now a PhD student in Computer Science, McGill, Montreal and am fortunate enough to have one of the best music school in Canada just across the street. It got me to play more, meet talented young clarinetists and take lessons with great teachers and performers.
I currently play in the McGill Wind Ensemble, the clarinet choir and a student run operetta company who put together a G&S show, I was also fortunate enough to sub in the McGill orchestra and that was an amazing experience. Sometimes I wonder if I don't spend more time with my clarinet than my computer...
My unspoken dream is to find a string quartet willing to play Mozart and Brahms with me.

I'm 26 and I work for the Girl Scouts (yes WORK for the Girl Scouts) in Charleston, SC. Unmarried, no kids. (you just don't meet guys when you work for the G.S. Go figure)
I started clarinet in 6th grade. Went to Winthrop University and played with the Symphonic band there for a few semesters. The farther I got in my major (early childhood ed) the less time I had to practice and the more frustrated I got. Graduated in 1998 and hadn't really touched the clarinet again until recently.
At the moment, I'm just trying to practice. There are two community organizations (Charleston Festival Orchestra and Charleston Metropolitan Orchestra) that are constantly looking for players. Maybe when I don't completely sound horrible, I play with them.

Hi. I am a 25 year old public school band director in Northwest Inidana (near Chicago). Since beginning my high school teaching gig, I don't have nearly the time to play my clarinet as I'd like. I still play in a community college/community band and split my time between conducting and playing in another community group. I also play with my students and teach privately.

I am a 42 year old graduate student with a husband and a rambunctious 3 year old son. I will graduate this year with a master's degree in Music History. My creative project centers around my dad who played the clarinet in the Army at the end of the Korean War. My final project will be a lecture/recital and covers the time period from 1932 (the year my dad was born) until 1955 when he stopped playing. I will naturally concentrate on the clarinetists that first influenced my dad...Goodman and Shaw. Oh to have been born 50 years sooner!
If there is anyone out there who also played in the military PLEASE email me.
I was primarily a bass clarinetist for most of my life. I took up the soprano clarinet seriously this past year, hopefully ending my love/hate relationship with the instrument. Long, boring story. I play all the woodwinds with a certain degree of proficiency and have played in the pit orchestras for nearly 50 musicals.

I just completed my 30th year teaching high school music/band and am now retired.(Hooray!) However I still have a large group of private students.
I'm lucky enough to live in the beautiful Hamptons on the end of Long Island. We always eagerly await for the "celebrities" to depart after each summer season so life and traffic (and prices) can return to normal.
My undergrad degree was in clarinet performance, and my graduate degree was in music history. I love research, and I am an avid reader of books on Classical music history with a special interest in the period 1750-1820.
My primary clarinet teacher was Dave Etheridge (now at Univ of Oklahoma) but have taken many Master classes on clarinet as well. I went to the last 6 or 7 US based Clarinetfests. For those who have never attended one, I highly recommend attending - just to be rejuvenated each year.
I play principal clarinet in 2 local regional orchestras, after realizing MANY years ago that the road to the major symphony job was just beyond my reach due to the dirth of truly fabulous players out there. (Greg Smith et al...) But am extremely happy to perform recitals and symphony concerts on the local level in this area.
Also, since I was about 14, I learned to play club dates by first starting in the Catskill (New York) mountains. Now, when not teaching, I play weekend gigs (weddings, coctail parties) with Hal McKusick, Jim Chapin, Toots Thielmann, and Ray Williams. I have also done some TV commercial work (eg: background music ESPN, etc...)
Since 1985 I have also been playing lead alto sax in The Big Band East http://bigbandeast.tripod.com an authentic 40's style big band in the Hamptons. This keeps me very busy in the summer months.
However, my first love is classical clarinet and the history of music...GBK

Hi, GBK - You dropped some heavy names there - Thielmanns and McKusick. I envy your association. I am a retired EE, 70 years old and have been a "noodler" on clarinet since my teens. I don't consider myself a 'real' clarinet player, but enjoy playing in our church praise band doing a lot of contemporary choruses. In addition to clarinet, I have an old King Tenor, an Alto, Soprano and C-tenor which gets used on occasion. My other gigs are at the nursing homes and senior centers. They seem to appreciate my playing - (there's no accounting for taste) ( ; - >) My long suffering wife tolerates my addiction as well as my accumulation of vintage 78rpm jazz records. My best to all for good clarineting!

High school sophomore. Soon to be 16.
Very active in band stuff, AP Classes, etc. (In short, I have no life.)
Took up clarinet about two years ago. I think.
Took up contralto clarinet about a year ago.
Took up bass about nine months ago.
Took up Eefer about six months ago.
GAVE up Eefer about six months ago.
Multi-instrumentalist. (Bluntly: Jack-of-all-trades). Tuba is my best instrument. Clarinet comes in second. French Horn is third.
I compose orchestral peices in my spare time.
My goal is to become a famous composer and perhaps play professionally for chamber groups, hopefully get to play for Broadway.
Like I said, I don't have much of a life, but at least I'm ambitious!!

Of course, working with them (as well as Jim Chapin - the late Harry Chapin's father) is like a textbook history lesson of jazz...GBK

From Brighton in England, but work as a newspaper reporter in Paris. Played the clarinet in a New Orleans-style jazz band too long ago to remember, and took up the instrument again seriously about four years ago. Play with local conservatory orchestra, rehearse once a week and take lessons every Saturday with a former student of Jacques Lancelot, so I'm firmly in the French tradition.Love history and wrote a book about the clarinet for Buffet Crampon. Very proud owner since July of a basset horn -- I simply love the sound, especially since Ed Pillinger in London supplied me with one of his mouthpieces. But haven't found anywhere to play it yet.

I am a senior in high school looking foward to my future education. My main instrument is the clarinet. I play currently in the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and am the only high school clarinetist. It is a wonderful ensemble as we have sectionals with Ted Oien (principal of the DSO),a master class with Itzak Perlman and are performing the Beethoven 9th with choirs and four soloists with the New York Met. I am also in all my school ensembles (Symphony Winds where I play clarinet and do sectionals, Symphony Band where I play my oboe, Concert Band where I do indipendent study and run sectionals, Jazz Band 1 on Tenor Sax, Jazz Band 2 on alto sax, Marching band as section leader and Musical pit where I play reed 3 in sweet Charity {clarinet, oboe and tenor sax}) I am also in the community band on tenor sax. In the past I have played in the University of Michigan honors band and orchestra, Eastern Michigan honors band as principal clarinetist and scholorship winner and the Metropolitan Youth Symphony.
I plan to go to either Eastern Michigan University or Wyne State University for my batchelors degree and then go to a conservitory. One of the reasons being to save money. Wayne has already offered me a full scholership and today is my Eastern audition. I plan to get a performance degree but keep my options open as I look into instrument repair, teaching, studio work, musical pits and even journalism to put the food on the table and a roof over my head before I land an orchestral job.

I'm from Merseyside U.K. I'm 47 and have played clarinet since I was 12. I was inspired to take it up because Acker Bilk's 'Stranger on the Shore was popular in England at the time!!!!!
I was lucky enough to have excellent teachers and ended up studying with Sidney Fell at the Royal Manchester College of Music (sadly no longer going)
My first job was as principal with the B.B.C. orchestra in Bristol (also no longer there, it's really not my fault) and I've just completed 20 years as 2nd & Eb with the B.B.C. Philharmonic based in Manchester.
I like to have other musical interests outside the orchestra. I dabbled with the saxophone for a while,mostly the soprano, I enjoyed playing sax 4tets.
I love early music, enjoying playing consort stuff and still struggling to learn the lute.
The latest craze is folk-music. I play whistles, concertina, bagpipes (Northumbrian & Irish) The struggle is to avoid hearing some unfamiliar instrument and thinking "I'd like to have a go on that"
I have a 7 year old son who keeps me young at heart and a clarinet-playing girlfriend who keeps me on my toes.
My hobbies include juggling and cycling, mostly strange machines, Moultons and recumbents and I attempted my first triathlon last year.

Hi, I'm "Bob"..age 72,retired Metallurgical/Materials Engineer in the greater Chicago area and "jack of most trades". I played grade school band under Forrest McAllister and Chuck Peters after taking 3 months of lessons from a trombone player. Played under A.R.McAllister and Bruce Houseknecht in h.s. and took 3 more months of lessons under Clarence Warmerlin. After that I never touched a horn until a year ago when my old h.s. decided to form an "alum band" and I joined and had a ball. Now play with our junior college comm.band and love it. I maintain my own horns because I'm an original "do-it-yourselfer" and am trying to learn restoring. Enjoy most of the submittals and appreciate the good "tips". Most recently I "discovered" eBay and it's been my downfall as I now own 6 horns going on 7. Currently play and love my E-11s and wonder if the R-13 will be that much better. I am rather opinionated at times like most old geezers but have a great sense of humour which is not always appreciated, I'm sure. Only advice I have is for the youngsters which is don't ever stop playing.

Hi again everyone! I've played clarinet many years, and I have a BA in music. I own a Gift and Book Gallery with my husband, who appreciates, but doesn't play, classical music. He has a marine engineer's license, an airplane pilot's license and practices astrology. I have certificates in therapeutic aromatherapy, reflexology, hypnotherapy (RHy), and am a Reiki Master. My biggest endeavor will be the vibrational music concert with another professional (trumpet) musician here in April. I play mostly classical clarinet music, including orchestra, wind ensemble, and chamber groups. I've dabbled in jazz, but I'd rather listen to Eddie Daniels do that! I currently teach 16 private clarinet students. Live is a marvelous challenge! My two young sons (5 & 8 years) are musically talented. My 8 year old has a tone on the clarinet that rivals that of some clarinetists who have studied for years...and he really wants to play the trumpet! Good luck all of you studying the clarinet, now! So....Mark Charette, are you ever going to tell us about yourself???!!!!

I'm a free-lance tech writer/editor/desktop publisher/web content developer/whatsit. I've also received money from strangers for fiction writing, cartooning, and acting, but that's not relevant here (or anywhere else). Played clarinet (& later sax) in school, never amounted to much, took about thirty years off, started up again last year on alto sax, and this year on clarinet--for my own enjoyment, and to jam with my pianist son and string-playing wife. (Anybody know of any good charts for piano, clarinet, and mountain dulcimer?) Finished the Rubank advanced method books for sax three weeks ago, and am almost halfway through the first advanced Rubank for clarinet. Exactly what I mean by "finished" might not qualify as full technical mastery in the eyes of anyone else, but I'm certainly better now than I was at any time before (at least on sax).

well I wont be lazy anymore:
I'm in year 11 (first year of college in Australia) playing chamber music -- the class doesnt play all together, but has duets, trios etc between a combination of instruments. I started the clarinet in year 7 in the high school ensemble, but only started playing *properly* when I started having private tuitions in year 9. Outside college, I'm also in a small (varying between 4 and 13 players) clarinet ensemble run by my clarinet tutor.
Can also play the recorder (from primary school of course), the shakuhachi (a bit) and the dijeridoo (homemade!), although I still need to learn circular breathing to do that last one properly.
I also seem to keep unconciously playing swing quavers & semiquavers, as my teacher informed me after hearing me practicing Duo 1 by Pleyel. hmmm....

Hi!
I am Vicky Fernandez. I am a Sophomore at Eastern New Mexico University majoring in Music Education. I am principle clarinetist in the Wind Symphony and in the Symphonic Band. Dr. Tamara Raatz is my clarinet professor. I'm currently working on the Copland Clarient Concert, Stravinsky's Three Pieces, and various orchestral excerpts.
My set up is a Buffet Vintage, Charles Bay mouthpiece, and the Vandoren Optimum lig. I like Vandoren V12's, Zonda's, and Gonzales reeds.
I love playing and teaching music!
I also can't wait until I perform the Copland Clarinet Concerto. WOWZERS!

Checked the other list, realized I wasn't on it, so here I go.
My name's Alexi, a 22 year old from NJ. I'm primarily self-taught (mostly through the BBoard here actually as far as what materials to work on). I've had about seven lessons in my life, but am excited since I should have the money next year to finally afford weekly lessons! I'm a student in college, STILL undecided with what degree to focus on (between Math and Music).
I also work fulltime right now for UPS (a small company, you may have heard of it . . . ![[right]](http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/smileys/smilie8.gif) ) however in a split shift since I'm covering for a fulltimer out on maternity leave (so working two four hour shifts a day is a bit of a hassle).
My setup (as of now . . . for those who see my posts know that it's always liable to change!) is a Pomarico Emerald MP, with a Rovner MkIII ligature, and a legere reed (I have ordered and will be trying the quebec cut soon), with an Amati 604-II (worked over by Graham Golden), equipped with a bartolai barrel.
Hoping to pick up an A clarinet early next year, although I'm still wrestling with over what kind and where.
Also, not clear on future plans (toying with idea of staying fulltime with UPS and playing on the side in community bands, or maybe going music ed, etc. etc.)

Yes Alexi, I checked also and can now lie with impunity about my age.
So I'm 29 and have had 40 yrs of clarinet playing ! Starting off as a classical geek, I've had to bend in the last 15 years to accommodate most of the band scores I'm getting. In 3 weeks my "Chorus Line" books (2+4) are for eefer, beefer, ceefer, woofer and alto sax so my learning curve has been steep.
Basically self taught, but my introduction to Lawrence Gill of Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama opened up my narrow world to exciting musical possibilites incl jazz recently.
1st clarinet in a very happy Tayside Symphony Orchestra here in Scotland, and guest for sax, clar and bass clt in other orchestras around.
Regular recitalist at University lunchtime concerts (mixed trios) and had a reg clar 4tet for years in Aberdeen. Having a super wind section we recently formed a wind octet from TSO and are exploring the repertoire, doing gigs for the National Trust etc also.
Just teamed up with pros on cello and piano to again explore the rep for this combo - Fruhling, Brahms, Glinka etc.
Some of this is paid - but it's not my day job - I'm a dental GP - nice to be able to steep myself in something I really enjoy away from work.
I've a golf h/c of 5 and have been know to dabble in a little competitive photography. The advent of a digital slr and Adope Photoshop is, I have to say, a distraction. My staff occasionally have to remind me that I have a day job.

Came to NYC 30-some years ago to either become a famous actor or a studio musician. Still working on both!
Instruments are flute, the clts (no e-flat!), alto/tenor sax. Have done symphonic & big band work, both pro and semi, currently not playing out, except for occasional bass clarinet work with a local "volunteer" symphony and clarinet/bass clarinet with a woodwind ensemble.
As an actor, I've had numerous commercial auditions as a musician (no bookings yet, though); and did a couple of on-camera "sit there and pretend you're playing" jobs on a soap (once as a pedal steel guitar player, once as a cocktail pianist in a tux, both to pre-recorded tracks).
Teachers include Brian Hysong (bass clt., NY City Ballet Orch), John Marco (Clt./Music instr., U Wisc Platteville), Bill Meade (sax-clt-flute), Bob Kindred (sax).

Hi....three years ago I was plain "Bob" , now I'm BobD....and three years older with more clarinets . And, "Yes", all three R13 horns are better than either E11....which,however, are excellent horns.

I would be Lauren...or LC. Or Lalaa, if you really want to call me that...
And I would be 15 years old and majorly addicted to the big band era. And Van Morrison....and then some random bands, like Journey, Boston, and the Beatles. Mwaha. I play acoustic guitar and electric bass and have been yearning for a clarinet or a sax for quite a few years...and...YAY! I get to go get a clarinet tomorrow! AH! Excitingness. I also ride horses...I have a Westfalen (German warmbloody thing) mare name Franka whom I absolutely adore. She is my baby.
Oh, yes. I am definitely a Christian. Hurrah!
Well...that's me. yay!

My name is Eddy Jennekens and I'm 24 years old. I'm from profession a ICT consultant (computer expert) in the Netherlands, because of the low demand of musicians I've chosen to be a ICT consultant. My hobby, the clarinet, did become a obsession at the age of 9 years and I've expended it with the Eb clarinet about 3 years back.
I've studied with 3 private teachers and am currently taking lessons with the fourth one. Being a amateur clarinettist, I’ve played in many orchestra's and still am playing in two amateur orchestra's at the highest level in our county.
In the past I've won some important prices in our country by playing solo's and even have recorded some pieces with famous radio stations in our country.
My equipment that I mainly use is:
Leblanc Opus II Bes clarinet, Viotto BK, Rovner Eddie Daniëls II ligature, Vandoren #3
Leblanc Eb clarinet, Viotto RH, Rovner Eddie Daniëls II Ligature, Vandoren #3

Hello, I'm Margaret and I'm 46. I started the clarinet last year and then a few months later with the alto sax. I had to start at the beginning as I didn't know anything about music. I come from Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, Scotland but live in Lee-on-the-Solent in Hampshire, England. I play with a little band on Monday nights in the Salvation Army hall....but not the Salvation Army band. I have recently found myself a new clarinet teacher and I'm really pleased he is serving in the Royal Marines Band as an instructor so I'm in good hands. I do not have a job in music..I have 2 young boys, a whippet, a gecko, umpteen hamsters, 2 gerbils, goldfish, tropical fish and a husband. I would like one day to own a wooden clarinet...Hope you all have a Happy New Year. Mgtx

Hi and a Happy and Fortunate New Year to All!
I'm John Pappas, age 61. I've played clarinet since 1963 (do the math). I have played only Albert system for all these years because that's the system we Greek folk musicians use. I play my C Buffet most of the time, but for certain tunes I play my Buffet A or Buffet Bb. I play on Robert Borbeck mouthpiieces ( 1#14, 2 #16, and on Walter Grabner (2 "Jazz") mouthpieces.
I have taught English and folklore at our community college for 32 years, and now I am thinking seriously about retirement.
I am going to learn some New Orleans and Turk Murphy type tunes on my Albert clarinet! I used to go see Turk often as I grew up in San Francisco.
I enjoy reading the comments of all of our list mates!

I'm a 77yr-old lawyer (listed in Best Lawyers in America) and have played clarinet since 10 years of age. Largely self-taught except for public school bands, I was lucky enough to reach a level which allowed me to start playing professional gigs while still in high school, and have done so ever since--mostly dance bands from big bands to combos, but with numerous shows such as circuses, ice shows, Lipizan Horses, Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Ernie Ford, etc.: originated, underwrote, M.C.'d, played in weekly jazz show for which I received a state Arts Commission award; presented live lectures on history of jazz at severaly colleges and universities in four states; received an award last year from the Community Arts Council as Instrumentalist of the Year; also play sax flute and euphonium, and sing regularly in church choir and community chorus; love many types of music and participate in whatever is available. SO, NOW I'VE FINALLY STARTED TAKING CLARINET LESSONS, about four months ago, and am having great fun trying to unlearn all the bad habits I've learned over the years. This BBis a great source of information for me. Keep it coming. I need all the help I can get.

Hi all,
I am new to the board, posted a couple of messages and then found out I should introduce myself as many others did. How rude of me!
I'm 48 (young 48's that is) and played music since age 7. Learned piano, then flute, (and piccolo) then saxes and clarinet, all in my teens.
Classically trained, I played in a military band in So. America, where I hail from. Then graduated from the Berklee College of Music and later on the Univ. of Massachussetts.
Played professionally most of the time until I got married and had kids. Then I had to find a day job...(or a real job?)  (Government work that is)
Now in MD for the past 3 ys, I continue playing with several concert and jazz bands, some of them professional gigs, some others community bands.
Recently I found myself devoting more time to the clarinet, and find this board an excellent resource. THANK YOU to all the regulars and clarinet experts/masters for sharing your experience and giving us advice.
Keep up the good work!!!
