And be aware that the clarinet (unlike some other instruments) breaks on 12s, not octaves. (This is the reason the low E becomes a B etc.)
It is easier (in my opinion of course) to go down accross the break than up. Try practicing down for a while, and then go up.

Don't be too despondant - after much gnashing of the teeth, and determined practice ... it will suddenly just "happen", but it's a rather big plateau to get over, if you catch my drift.
