Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place. Could someone please let me know if the above clarinet serial number is genuine. I have bought this instrument today and to be honest the only difference between my genuine B12 is felt instead of cork on the key stops and the serial numbers don’t meet at the middle joint section. They are at the bottom of both middle sections. There is absolutely no difference on anything in the case including the logos. Unfortunately I can’t find any information about B18s. Pictures to follow. Thanks in advance.

Seems like you're not the first one on this board to ask.
TLDR: it's a B12 but probably originally sold into the Australian or east Asian market.

Thanks ACCA. I had read that post but had doubted if it was correct or not. If that is true then it appears to be quite a rarity as there is virtually nothing else anywhere about the B18. Also even though it appears to be exactly the same clarinet as my B12, I cannot find anything that sort of matches the serial number C004681 or any other run of serial numbers that can be used to identify country made or date. Any more information appreciated.

You may try to contact Buffet in France or maybe their dealer/representative in your country.
If they replied, you'd know the info you got is correct.
