Does anyone here understand the clarinet reference in this ad on Ebay?

Just curious.

Sorry, don't get it! I can't find a single reason a clarinet player would want such an item. It isn't particularly "noteworthy." :)

I just sent a question to the seller asking about it. I'll let you know what he has to say about it when I get an answer.

I think the seller is implying that this is the type of tie that would have been worn during some part of the big band era ('30's, '40's, or '50's), and possibly more likely by a swing musician than a lawyer.

I think that somehow the use of "controlled substances" might be involved here..........

The only connection I can figure out is that this is a tie from the late 40s/50s, when swing bands were in vogue. If you're re-creating a swing band, maybe a tie like this would be part of the costume.

"Controlled substances." Would those be soprano saxophones? Oh, no, those are uncontrolled.

Man, we had more taste than that back in the 40's. Must be one of those "snotty nosed kids" getting smart.
