Have any of you ever tried ChopSaver lip balm? It looks like Chapstick, but is made up of plants and is meant to toughen up your lips and keep them from hurting. I have been told brass players use it.

Apparently not. Those claims are quite dubious. I thought the part of the part of a clarinet player's lips most likely to hurt would be the underside where the bottom teeth touch, a place where one would not apply lip balm of any kind. What sort of problems are you having that you imagine this product would solve?
As a brass and flute player myself, my lips need to be supple, not tough. And they've never hurt. So I suspect any pain is due to over use and improper technique. If my lips are chapped, I'll just use ChapStick.

I don't believe the intent is to 'toughen up your lips.' This is the product description:
"ChopSaver Lip Care promotes healing of your lips and relieves swelling, chapping and soreness in a gentle way."
It has ingredients to help with bruising and inflammation. I would think this might be more geared towards brass players, but I recently saw it advocated on a clarinet channel - for after practice, of course. I actually bought some recently but I haven't used it enough to comment on it yet. It's pleasant enough, as far as chapstick goes...that's all I can say so far.

Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment works well for me. Has higher star rating than Chopsaver has.
