Ralph retired from The Selmer Co. around 1980. He was chief woodwind designer at the time. Shortly after that he started producing his own mouthpieces.
I do not know how much involvement, if any, he had in producing Selmer branded mouthpieces before 1980. I suspect if he did, it might only be USA manufactured mouthpieces. I think there is a decent Wiki page outlining Selmer USA and Selmer Paris history, how the two companies are related, and the various changes in ownership.
Ralph was a most kind gentleman, always willing to share his extensive knowledge with anyone looking for help. I own an 06, two 10s, and a 28 for clarinet; a D for bass clarinet; and a Excalibur 6 alto sax. I find them all to be excellent.
