I have a 24k gold and a silver BG duo and while they play well, I wish they'd give a little more control to the sound. I think they're quite free blowing for a classical player like me and that has Its negatives. (Of course that's depended on the mouthpiece and reed too, that might work for others) Should I also try the tradition? Rails on tradition seem really interesting, being the longest I've ever seen on a ligature..

I find ligatures make no difference whatsoever, so long as they do their job of securely holding the reed to the mouthpiece.

for me the "revelation" ones (metal longitudinal rails on reed, fabric/leather lig) give a good balance of flexibility and control.
and they are very practical and don't slip etc. More control? move the lig closer to the tip, especially needed for legeres. not tight enough? try the BG "reed performer" to bulk up the reed and keep the lig from slipping on it.
