 Problematic RC A clarinet

I used to play an R13 A clarinet which I never liked, but when i got it I was alot younger and wouldn't of known how to choose a good instrument. My teacher eventually agreed to let me get rid of it and find something else. Out of a bunch of RC's and Festivals which I played and liked, I asked him to choose one for me, since he chose my Bb Festival and i love it to bits. He picked an RC and said "its a beauty." At first I loved this instrument, I thought things couldn't be more perfect but then things started to get worse. I admit it's still a better instrument than the R13 I had, but it has issues. For months I've been complaining about a really strange kind of vibration when I play D E and F ( 3 holes on the lower joint) and it also sounds fuzzy. I had it fixed and a tech put gortex pads on, and it seemed to stop for a while, but it is back again. It's an on and off thing. Also, when I play my A it seems to fill up with water (spit) really quickly. Maybe its more to do with the mouthpiece and reed. When I play a solo piece such as Sutermeister, there isn't alot of time to stop and suck the water out of the mouthpiece and reed. It gets wet and fuzzy really quickly and I dont always have the chance to suck it in, which sounds really discusting but we all do it right? Is this problem related to the instrument or my setup? and also, does anyone know what the story is with this vibration? It makes the instrument really unpleasent to play. Thanks.

I recently experianced a sub-tone, buzz kind of sound on my upper B and C and discovered that my lower l-h F# key was lightly loose. A little oil cured the noise. Sometimes, loose rings can also produce unwanted sounds. Hope this helps, Good Clarineting "down under"

Also check Tenon rings and the ring on the bell. If they are not tight or glued properly, they can produce a nasty buzzing sound also.

Are your reeds properly broken in? I sometimes get vibrations on my clarinet when I feel that not all of the reed is properly vibrating. I've found that any kind of reed defect is far more obvious on the A clarinet than on the B flat and in that sense, the A clarinet can be the ideal instrument on which to play my technical work.

As far as I know, the holes with which you are having problems are frequently a bit stuffy on A clarinets, but I have heard of this more in reference to the G, A, and B flat a twelth below. What may be of help to you is if you get your teacher to play your clarinet. I've found this a very useful way of spotting where my problems lie, and they're usually not with my instrument, but with me or my reeds.

Good luck with it all.

I see a distinction between a buzz (two parts vibrating together) and a note with an inherent fuzzy tone.
This is a long shot... I have occasionally discovered a burr or even a flap of metal at the bottom of the register vent.
(Similarly, on plastic clarinets I have sometimes seen a 'reed' of plastic at the bottom of a tone hole, left over from the moulding process.)
