I used to play an R13 A clarinet which I never liked, but when i got it I was alot younger and wouldn't of known how to choose a good instrument. My teacher eventually agreed to let me get rid of it and find something else. Out of a bunch of RC's and Festivals which I played and liked, I asked him to choose one for me, since he chose my Bb Festival and i love it to bits. He picked an RC and said "its a beauty." At first I loved this instrument, I thought things couldn't be more perfect but then things started to get worse. I admit it's still a better instrument than the R13 I had, but it has issues. For months I've been complaining about a really strange kind of vibration when I play D E and F ( 3 holes on the lower joint) and it also sounds fuzzy. I had it fixed and a tech put gortex pads on, and it seemed to stop for a while, but it is back again. It's an on and off thing. Also, when I play my A it seems to fill up with water (spit) really quickly. Maybe its more to do with the mouthpiece and reed. When I play a solo piece such as Sutermeister, there isn't alot of time to stop and suck the water out of the mouthpiece and reed. It gets wet and fuzzy really quickly and I dont always have the chance to suck it in, which sounds really discusting but we all do it right? Is this problem related to the instrument or my setup? and also, does anyone know what the story is with this vibration? It makes the instrument really unpleasent to play. Thanks.
