 Alternative Boehm LH fingering

Let me introduce to you my NEW alternative left hand fingering for Boehm system. It allows you to play both major and minor scales with the same fingering, which I think is a big advantage, compared to the traditional fingering. If you are interested you can contact me. Cheers!

Looks like you’re just holding down the thumb ring for F# without covering the hole. The problem with this is that is the note is now too sharp. On my clarinet the note is now 40 cents sharp. I can make it better by partially covering the hole, but I don’t see where this would be more useful than either of the 2 standard fingerings. Maybe for microtonal music.

jdbassplayer, you're just partially right about how I do it, I don't hold the thumb ring. Anyway, I don't see how you don't see how this is more useful than the standard fingerings, which are both more complex and slower. This is the simple and natural row and flow of opening the tone holes (middle-index-thumb, as opposed to middle-thumb-index finger), and there is no doubt about that. Better in any way - logic, flow, speed, functionality... Of course, with this hole drilling F# is a little too sharp (although I did some work on the holes). My point was rather about the clarion-to-altissimo pass over, throwing fingers all around. This is just an illustration of the idea. As for the chaleumau, next step is to make a whole new upper joint with the proper drilling. Best regards!
