Bmcgar, that would only apply to self publishing. If it does get published then effectively the composer hands over all copyright claims to the publisher in return of a percentage of sales. Once that agreement ends then copyright should theoretically revert back to the composer or family/estate (if the composer has died). Unfortunately this isn’t always the case as I’ve found out with my own dealings rescuing forgotten works.
