For Goodman, I'd suggest "Slipped Disc" recorded in 1945 with his sextet. Simply AMAZING!

I second Brahms Sonatas played by David Shifrin. I must admit that Brahms is absolutely NOT "my" composer, but what Shifrin does with this music is out of this world. Also I personally think that absolutely "must" is his recording of Copland's Concerto.
