Ok, I've been scanning what will be going down in Knoxville next month and one of the interesting looking products is the Zac Clarinet Ligature.
From the videos and images it appears (can't be sure) that there are two cables similar to the composition of those used on the Silverstien ligatures, a direct central pressure screw (somewhat like the Francois Louis) and metal (or wood) plates that are longitudinally curved to hit the reed in a Bonade style configuration.
Anyone have one? Price for one full ligature? Individual plate cost? Price of cool leather mouthpiece cap?

I have been fascinated with different ligatures over the years. They can really effect the response and feel of a reed to a certain degree, although I am not sure how much that translates to the listener. One issue however, is how stable the ligature is when changing clarinets or removing the mouthpiece to swab. The last thing I want is to end up with a handful of reed and ligature when I need to make an important entrance or to find that the reed has moved around on the mouthpiece.
I will be interested to see how these ligatures work in these type of situations.

I'm one of those who at least "feel" a difference in ligatures and believe that the resultant "feel" can/does make a difference in how you sound. I think it is also possible that the ligature itself can make a difference but this is hard to verify objectively.
I have been making ligatures similar to this concept from electrical hookup wire (insulated copper core), but they are not adjustable so the "fit" is critical. However, I like the resulting feel/sound better than any other ligature I've played. In particular, I like the two horizontal band design (e.g., Vandoren M|O) better than most of the "Bonade-style" ligatures. Consequently, I would love to try these but I'm not sure I would go for it at this price-point.

I have found that with Legere there are two issues that make them less usable with a lot of ligatures. One is that they are "slippery" (for lack of a better term). So finding a handful of reed and ligature is not uncommom with many more common ligatures. The other is that they are thinner (up and down), so many standard ligatures will tighten before they get a good grip, if at all.
I am mostly using the BG Duo which works great! However, I would like to find a few others that give me mouthpiece removal security AND a nice solid sound. The Zac look like they may work pretty well and $109 US Dollars is in line with the less expensive Silverstein.

Ima using the BG duo with Legere and cane reeds and I find it to be the best out there. It’s secure and very responsive. Plus it looks nice. This Zac ligature thing, though I haven’t tried it myself, looks like it will have some problems with being secure. Not to mention it isn’t very pretty!

I do agree that the Zacs are pretty big appliances on the top of the mouthpiece. Who'd think anything would make the Silverstein look demure?

There were enough ligatures 20 years ago. Now it's ridiculous.
Most of us are happy with substandard rubber in our mouthpieces and tubby unresonant sounds, but WAIT! Theres a new SHINY ligature!

If you want to hear and see this ligature in action check out the videos of the very young Italian virtuoso, Gloria Uberto. She’s someone to keep an eye on for the future. It mentions in some of the videos that she is an official endorser.
