So I have this Pomarico Wizard Open Jazz Facing mouthpiece and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Wizard model. I also need information on wider tip openings and how they affect the instruments. BTW this is my first post. I"ve been bowsing this sight for 8 years without an account and I really wanted to thank all the helpful posters. Looking forward to meeting GBK soon.

The Pomarico Wizard comes in three facings/tip openings and you have the most open one (1.35)
With the open facing, you're probably going to have to use a rather soft reed - probably something equivalent to a Vandoren Blue Box 2 1/2. Anything more than that and you'll be needlessly biting too hard and encountering too much resistance.
Due to the heating/cooling of the glass, crystal mouthpiece can vary a lot, even with the same supposed facing. If you got a good one, definitely keep it, because sometimes it takes many samples of crystal mouthpiece to find a winner. When I picked out my Vandoren crystals in the early 1970s I probably tried at least two dozen before finding a few that were exceptional in projection and response. Many were stuffy and resistant.
