Hello,
On the Vandoren website, it says that the D2 and D4 are used with the White Master reeds, but the D6 can be used with the V12s and Rue Lepics as well.
Is it okay to use V12s on the D4 or is the difference significant? I tried the V12s on it and liked the sound, but I am wondering if It would be a HUGE difference to use White Masters instead.
Thanks,
Josh Miller

It surprises me that V12's work at all on the D4, since the German reeds that its designed for are narrower. But if they work and you like the sound, then just go on with them.
At some point it will not hurt to try out also the White Master, or some other German cut reeds.

Josh,
Just curious: are you using the Vandoren D4 mouthpiece on a German bore reform Boehm, an Oehler system, or a French bore Boehm clarinet?

Are you using the d4 with “S” shank to work with your French clarinet? It’s my understanding that the S is narrower to fit Boehm clarinets. Also, did you ever try different reeds with it?
