I grew up listening to his recordings of the Spohr clarinet concertos. They are some of my first memories of astoundingly good clarinet playing. It's a great loss for the clarinet world. We are lucky to have his sons carry on his tradition.

What a tragedy. His legacy will be carried on for many years through his sons. I just watched the VPO/Bernstein Bruckner 9 DVD the other night seeing him on principal.

Pretty sad - I've heard him on PBS a few times. Wonderful player.
