Unfortunately I can't play clarinet anymore (my favourite instrument). This is because at 79, I have a condition called 'essential tremors.' My clarinet, which I've had for 20+ years, is marked 'Buffet Crampon Londres' and the serial number is K821. The bore is 15mm. Looking at the list of numbers, this places its manufacture in 1897. But contrary to the lists, another website has it that K numbers started in 1953!

The K serial numbers that started in the early 1950's were for Evette Schaeffers, not Buffet's. I would tend to believe the 1897 date. I assume the keywork is consistent with an instrument of that date. Distinct examples would be a wraparound register vent, and a single post for the left hand pinky keys of the lower joint.
As to value, I'm not sure what to suggest.

I have a 1934 Boosey and Hawkes London clarinet. Unfortunately, I don't know the model. I think it's so old it doesn't have a model name! Absolutely love it to bits but I've had to stop playing it has much as it's quite fragile. Had it serviced at Dawkes Music in Maidenhead, UK, a couple of years ago and was told to bin the matching number mouthpieces that came with it due to the discolouration on them. I was only 13 at the time and didn't really know one end from the other of a clarinet other than how to play it. Now I know a bit more about the instrument and its history I am gutted; wiped a huge chunk of its value off because of the advice from Dawkes. I now only use the Boosey and Hawkes on occasions and 'replaced' it with a Yamaha YCL-CSG-III-H. Lovely instrument but the lovely warm sound of the Boosey is incomparable.
