 Yamaha Artist Program

I called the Yamaha plant in Buena Park. I told them that I was a student in high school and I wanted to try out a couple of CSVRs and 650s to take home. They told me that that was something called the Yamaha Artist Program and told me to hold. It was over 1 hour so I decided to give up. I'm a really big advocate for Yamaha and I really want to try out their CSVR line. I live in southern California and I'm dying to try one out. The only thing we have here are Backuns and Buffets.

The Yamaha YCLSVR's are fantastic horns. If I had to choke between a Buffet Tosca and a CSVR right out of the box, totally mint, I would always choose the Yamaha. I'm speaking from experience because I also have a set of Toscas that were selected for me. DUDS. They do play a lot better with the zoom barrel (the CSVR too) but they need additional work on them before I really can tell how they can play. The CSVR will play right out of the box. Yamaha has continuously improved their clarinets. The CSVR has more core to their sound than earlier models. So if you are playing on a concert hall stage you can project the sound out without killing yourself. I lucked out and got it on the last day of a Yamaha promotion for $2,500. What a steal!!! If players like John Yeh and Julie DeRoche play it, there must be something to it. Don't listen to all the Buffet and Backun Mafiosos out there. Hope it works out with the Artist Program.

Try calling them again...

I've had a number of students buy instruments by selecting them from the Atelier over the years, and in the past three years I've picked up a few CSVR's and 650's from them as well.

I will honestly say that while their product is superb and I continue to recommend them to students, I've not always had the easiest communication with their Buena Park office.
