I just acquired one. Any significant difference between the ST Deluxe and standard ST? Nice looking clarinet, near mint condition except for needing overhaul. I know people don't like the look of the keys with the long ridge across the pad cup and they do look a bit clunky but I'll say this: they appear to be sturdy, well-made keys at least. And the action, springs and all feel pretty good. Looking forward to rebuilding this one.
Can you give me an idea of the age? I haven't looked for Pruefer serial numbers yet, I just assumed there wasn't a record of them.

Pruefer had a habit of using multiple model names on identical instruments. As with Selmer USA instruments back in the '50s through the '70s, the different models could indicate a better case and/or mouthpiece being included with the outfit.
I have a Pruefer Special Model. It's a Silver Throat, with blue steel needle springs and glorious scarlet leather pads. Pruefer also sold Silver Throats as the Festival.
If yours is still sporting its original leather pads, you might try conditioning them first before proceeding with a full overhaul.
Beware of porous, soft brass key work as found on the early models. Hopefully you've a later example; these have excellent nickel-silver keys.

I wish it had nice leather pads. The pads are a mixed bag of types and ages. Definitely need to be replaced, as do the tenon corks and probably most of the key corks. This one looks like it has nice keys. They are still pretty shiny, so they will be easy to polish! The clarinet looks very nice overall.
