I have a metal Kaspar clarinet mouthpiece stowed away somewhere in my practice room. I haven't played it for many years but I remember whenever I played it, it would leave a metallic taste in my mouth. Is it worth anything? Back around 1984 after attending one of the last Marcellus master classes one of the participants bought a Kaspar 13 (Cicero) from me without ever playing or even seeing it for $125. I wonder what it would sell for today. IMHOP it wasn't that good.

Regular rubber Kaspar 13 Cicero mouthpieces sell for $400.00 and up on the famous internet auction site. Some are great, some just ok, and some klunkers.
Regarding the metal Kaspar, it is certainly rare and may be a "collector's item," but the big question for a lot of us would be how does it play? Is it responsive, does it tune well, is it centered and resonant, does it blend easily, articulate smoothy, etc. Many sax pros play metal mouthpieces for their entire careers, quite satisfied with them; few pro clarinetists do, but if the piece plays well, somebody is bound to be interested.
