Any suggestions on a good bass clarinet harness for high school marching band and where to purchase? Thanks!

The very idea of marching with a bass clarinet makes me cringe. That said, since the b.c. doesn't really weigh that much I don't see why a harness would be any better than a standard neck strap. Protec, BG, and Neotech all make good sax harnesses but the I'm not sure if they will adjust to fit a bass clarinet; make sure there's a return policy if you order one by mail.

My bass clarinet has a floor peg for a reason - to keep it from moving. A tenor sax will play most of the same music with more sound, be easier to handle, and be less likely to go out of adjustment than a bass clarinet. If you can play the upper register of a clarinet, you already know how to finger most of the notes on a sax. If a tenor sax is too heavy for you, try an alto sax.

bass clarinet has a wider low range than the tenor so if the arrangement has bass clarinet parts, they might need to be played on clarinet.

I can't think of a single reason why anybody would want to use a bass clarinet for marching band. If it was practical then military bands would have done it, and they haven't. Bass clarinet mechanisms are delicate enough that they give trouble when static, so the idea of bouncing them around is idiotic.

My customers like the Vandoren harness, but I don't carry it and I don't know if it works with bass clarinet

Having that weight on your shoulder can be more comfortable than having it on your neck.

Having it resting on a stationary floor with a peg sounds even more comfortable.

While we're speaking of unsuitable marching instruments ... this puts me in mind of Woody Allen in his film Take the Money and Run. He plays cello in a marching band, setting up in the first rank and playing until the band is past, then running back up to the front (with cello, chair and music stand) to set up again.
