 American Leader Metal Clarinet, vintage

I have an "American Leader" metal clarinet. It is over 65 years old, made in France, Serial no 8534.

Can provide any information about the clarinet, and what the value may be?

There are better authorities on this than I, but I'm familiar with the name, and I'm nearly sure this is one of the dozens of cheap metal clarinets made through the early '50s.

I'd say that the value is nil.

What research have you done?

B.

Thank you for the reply.

My research has been through web searches. I found site on French clarinets, but this model wasn't listed.

I don't know what the manufacturing company is, only the model. My wife used it in the 50's but didn't think it was new when her parents bought it, so I believe it was manufactured in or before the 50's.

I found one site were a similar model, in poor condition, was sold for $30. If that is any indication of the value, your comment about it being worth nil is probably correct.

I'm unable to determine the manufacturer (no stencil). The only other ID that I can find is the mouthpiece has Franklin stamped on it.

The clarinet probably needs new pads and maybe other work to really get into good shape. so I've concluded it's not worth pursuing further.

Thank everyone for the responses.
