hi, I'm mirko and i'm italian, I would like buy full clarinet with mib( Eb ) descending with alternate Eb position, that I have already a wooden clarinet, I want change because I think full clarinet is more better than other, but is it true?
in your opinion, it would be better to make an investment for a clarinet as the selmer series 9 or 21 buffet rc or amati, or is better spent for other clarinet?
I know is impossibile do classical conservatory, but I don't do classical, I do jazz, and I always wanted to have it, since the saw at a good price, plus or minus 100 €, I would love to have it, but I wish it were not useless, but that on the contrary, was very useful in my music career.

I have two full-Boehm clarinets (as we call them here) and quite a few "standard" ones. On average the full-Boehm clarinets do NOT play better than the standard ones, the only advantage they have are the extra low Eb and several alternate fingerings, if those things are important to you.

Hi Mirko the answer is probably no - a Full Boehm not necessarily better.
Yes the extra mechanism can come in useful in some technical passages but the vast majority of players today professional and amateur use the standard Boehm system.
The downside of full Boehm is mainly that since there are relatively few of them around you get little choice of instrument so your chances of finding a "good" one are lower.
I have several clarinets ranging from standard to full Boehm and all the intermediate stages.
I personally find that the fork Eb/Bb is the most useful extra but the articulated C#/G# means that the tonehole is in it's correct place and gives a much better note.
The LH Ab/Eb I do not like (but many others players do) and the low Eb is very rarely called for although it does mean that the E/F tones tend to be much nicer notes as a result.
