The serial number is 32460. I immediately thought the A was for Artley, but I couldn't find it with a google image search. The case appears original and it has no markings.
I didn't know that Artley made wood clarinetss.

They made some.
Have you got any photos of the actual clarinet as it's not really enough to go on with just the mouthpiece alone which doesn't mean the clarinet is also an Artley.

The case is cloth covered. I attached some pictures to a previous message. It sure looks oder than 1973. The case appears to be late fifties, early sixties. Picutre of serial number attached.
BTW, I forgot to thank everyone for their help. Much appreciated!!

The MPC maybe Artley but clarinet not. To my knowledge Artley hasn't used shared post for A/G#, only 4-post
The case is def prior to 70s, ~60s(?) and it says made in France so it is probably a Malerne? or some other French stencil. Phil has some info on french stencils at http://www.clarinetpages.net/vintage-odd-brands good luck

The keywork looks identical to that on my dad's Kalashen Kleartone from the 1920's. It was obviously a stencil, but good quality; I have no idea who made it. I realize this doesn't help you.

The single pivot point for the throat A and A-flat keys would seem to put it much earlier than the 1970s ... perhaps confirming Neil's thoughts. The photos don't show how many pivot screws there are on the lower joint for the left hand E/B, F/C and F-sharp/C sharp levers. If only one, that might put it in the 1920s and 30s as well.

Re cyclopathic's post. Hmm... Hard to tell from the pic whether the horizontal rod (for the A key) is attached to, or just under (and independent of) the vertical rod. That would require looking at the clarinet from a different angle, probably the left-hand side.

It probably is a stencil, but the keywork doesn't look very Malerney.
