What a great photo. So many legends at a young stage in their lives. I'm sure the instrument couldn't have been that bad!

It could be worse. The Frank Holton Co. during the 1920s used Rudy Wiedoeft's name on their top-of-the-line saxophones, without his permission and without ever paying him a cent, reportedly. (He was one of the most reknowned saxophone virtuosos of his day, along with Sigurd Rascher.)

Impressive ad! Never saw this. Malerne's name used to appear on A. Robert clarinets. Like he was an understudy, or something.
