Does playing overtones ever get any easier? There have been a few places in my music where I have no doubt that it was meant to be played using overtone as the fingering would be too clumsy and dreadful to think about!
And in a few days time I'm going to be doing my first ever teaching (clarinet). They're complete beginners with their own books, there will be at least two kids at the same time. I'm not getting paid much but it's more for the want of doing something with my playing. Have any of you got any tips on how I should go about these lessons?

All, absolutely ALL clumsy fingerings can be mastered until they can be done without thinking. Just don't give up. Play it 50, 100, 200, 300 ....times slowly, working out what is the trouble and focussing on perfection. You'll know when you are gradually ready to go faster.
After all you did manage as a toddler to do far more complicted things, such as balance, walk, talk, and get a fork in your mouth without stabbing out your eyes. Now you do all these without thinking. Aint that amazing!
