Thanks, Mark -
I have no experience with the newer Valentino pads. I hope they're an improvement
over the ones I've had to contend with.
Hi, Gordon -
I've found taking expired (old style) Valentino pads out to be a Chore. The sticky back glue, whatever it is, is like mushy, gummy plastic that doesn't want to give up and, as Mark indicates, it tends to ooze. I wonder whether horror movie effects people use it to create slime stuff I've used contact cement clean up fluid, M.E.K., Goof Off, lacquer thinner and other stuff (alcohol doesn't seem to do anything - for IT :/ ) but you still need to rub and scrub to clean those cups. I haven't tried putting the keys in the freezer yet... that's next on my list of things to try. Still, I worry that *any* residue will impede the adherence of shellac to metal cups later on. I haven't had a horn come back (to me)... yet. If one did come back to another tech, believe me, I'd hear about it and hear about it and hear about it - LOL :|) That's one of those 'time will tell' things. I've only been doing this seriously for the past year now so I don't have any personal statistics yet.
=========================
P.S. to Mark C.
Mark, please excuse me for drifting off the subject again. I've been typing in my 'new' e-mail address into the "Your Email:" box for the past couple of weeks but the 'old' one keeps showing up there. Very seldom does anyone contact me outside the BB but, just the same, if somebody wished to... Can I change it?
Thanks for all the info.
