I came down with it in high school, played before it got really bad, and went back to playing when I was out of the worst of it and recovering. If she (or mom and dad) are concerned, wash the mpc and drop the reeds into a bowl of water with a bit of listerine for a few minutes.

Do be aware that depending on how bad it got, she may tire quickly for a few weeks. You might suggest shorter practice sessions.
