I have my mom's metal clarinet from the 50s (at least thats when SHE used it). I have been reading old forums on this particular brand and am seeing that the numbers from this era are much higher than the one on hers so I do not know exactly how old it is.

On the bell it says this:
ALL American
P-M
LI City
NY

The serial number on it is 3527. It has an add-on stand for it that was for marching band. (She used it in High school in the mid 50s).
I took it to Schmidt music many years ago to see about re-corking it but they didnt seem interested enough to even quote me a price for it so I stuck it back in the closet.
Since I havent played since grade school, I know very little about it other than what I have put down. I am adding pictures for a better idea of the clarinet I am asking about. You can email me at birdsongg@msn.com .

Thanks for any and all help

Looks like it was probably one of P-M's student models. I would guess that it was probably made in the 1920's-early 1940's. P-M did make one of the best professional metal clarinets (the Clari-Met) as well as some good intermediate level ones (the Artist model). Unfortunately the only metal clarinets that are sought after are the few professional models that were made as well as some of the intermediate models so the value of student models is pretty low. I would say that in playable condition yours might be worth ~$100-$150 depending on how good of a player it is. It's not worth investing money into an overhaul if you just plan to sell the clarinet but if you plan to keep it then you could end up with a fun instrument to play.
