Its my older brother's wedding next year, and I was asked to perform a piece for them at the wedding reception dinner.
I wanted to ask if anyone could give me some suggestions as to what to perform.
I dont know if I should play something slow or somthing flashy? or both? I am just confused as to what piece I should choose.
So if anyone can give me any suggestions, that would be very helpful! I welcome any ideas.
Thanks!

Hi,
I do some clarinet and piano/organ at my church every once in a while (prelude, offering, communion, etc.); some of these would work at a reception.
My guess is a musical interlude, right?
1. Six Studies in English Folksongs - pick one or two
2. One of the Finzi Bagatelles - There is some lovely stuff here
3. The Girl with the Flaxen Hair
4. Debussy: Arabesque #1
5. Bach: Sheep may Safely Graze
6. Satie: Gymnopedie
7. Clair de Lune
8. Spring or Summer from Reade: Victorian Kitchen Garden
I think play something lovely.

Thank you so much Hank! Those are some good pieces. I am looking into Debussy's Arabesque. I've been looking on the internet for the music but have no luck. Do you know where I could get the sheet music for it?
Of course, if any one else have any more ideas, please post.
Thanks!

Hi Mark,
The copy I have is from Three Pieces by Debussy from Master Music Publications. They have a lot of excellent titles.
Here's the Master Music link http://masters-music.com/

Have you asked your brother or his bride to be what they might like to hear?

They said anything I want. I am sure they want something appropriate for the occassion. It could be from solo clarinet to a duet or trio with piano and another instrument.

Mark,
I made the assumption that you have an accompanist.
There's always a lot of pop ballads (We've Only Just Begun, Tenderly, Something, Close to You, etc.) to chose from. Play what we used to call Aww Songs (everyone goes "aww" when they hear them).

If you want something strictly classical and pretty a lot of second movements from concertos or sonatas would work. Alternatively what about the Richardson Roundelay?

At my first Wedding, I picked a gorgeous Bach piece (from his Organ Concerto / Cantata).
Cantata No.156: Ich steh' mit einem Fuss im Grabe BWV156
If you know the German language, which I didn't at all, you are laughing right now.......
I didn't learn the translation until about 3 years after the Divorce.
WAS SUCH A GORGEOUS WORK!!!
"I stand with one foot in the Grave"............
