Sad to report, that Stanley Hasty, professor emeritus of clarinet at the Eastman School of Music, passed away on June 22 at the age of 91.
Confirmation has been received by both Michael Webster and Ray Ricker on the klarinet mailing list.

You can hear his legacy in pretty much every professional orchestra in the US and many university and conservatories.
Hi contribution to the clarinet world is immeasurable.

I actually studied with two former Stanley Hasty students during my time in college. Considering *that*, I should have become the best clarinetist there is.....don't y'all think?? Both of them always spoke most highly of Stanley and one suggested I should actually go to Eastman for a DMA. Regretably, I chose to enter public school teaching and passed on a great opportunity. But like thousands of other lucky clarinetists, I have benefitted from his teachings.....if, however, only "second hand" through two of his better students.

My primary clarinet teacher, Dave Etheridge, was a student of Stanley Hasty.
I was always impressed with Dave's very well thought out ideas and principles of clarinet instruction - as later evidenced by his excellent 3 volume series of clarinet fundamentals.
