I'm confused on what I should buy... I really don't want an R13, I'm not exactly sure why, I guess I just don't want to fall into the popular brand. Ive heard Selmer's are really good for jazz.. and thats kinda the sound I want. Any other opinions?

Don't discount R13s until you actually try a couple. They might be the perfect instrument for you.

Also look at what is available from Leblanc, Selmer, Ridenour and Hanson, to name just a few that get discussed here regularly.

Depending on how much you are planning on spending, the Leblanc/Backun Symphonie ie a stellar value. For even less, you can get a Casdenza, or one of Tom Ridenpur's excellent Lyriques.

And there is always the used market!

Since jazz is your main focus I'd go with a Selmer of a Lablanc. I've played a lot of jazz in the military bands, mainly the sax, but also some clarinet licks. The Buffet I had was a bit resistant, so I used the Selmer supplied by the military band, which was the 9 series.

I'm not up on the latest Selmer's or Lablanc's so take a look at those and try them out. Needless to say pick the one that feels best. I really liked the key work on the free blowing Selmer. It just feels really great compared to the Buffet and I found it really fun to play.
