Hey there everyone,
I am currently second year at University here in Australia, and need to start constructing a program for next semester.
I currently am playing Lutoslawski - Dance Preludes, and Brahms 2. My teacher has suggested to find some Australian music, as not a lot of it gets played here, which is a shame. Does anyone know of some good Aussie Rep? Or any good Brand New Rep?!
Also anything great classical and romantic stuff too, any suggestions would be good because I'm kinda stuck, and the library at uni seems to be pretty sparse of things because other people have them, or the uni doesn't seem to think having certain pieces is beneficial even if only one person plays them each year.
Poulenc was another one that was suggested, but if anyone out there has some suggestions i will follow them up and run them by my teacher.

Hmmm i know of Percy Grainger, not a big fan, i know he's a huge australian composer and all but yeah, not a huge fan.
I've played a lot of Ross Edwards before, played ulpirra. I've played don banks, did that in my final year recital at school. I don't think i need to be playing concerto yet. I think they reserve that for final year, as one semester of work for performance study.
I will look out for some of those works in the library and search for more online.
Anyone ever played Gameboy Music by Matthew Hindson?

Hi Dean
I have played Game Boy Music it's fun. Mathew has also written another piece titled Nintendo Music. Both are available from the Australian Music Centre. It is probably the best place for you to find this sort of repertoire, as from memory the University doesn't have a great deal of this rep in its library. What contemporary techniques do you feel confident playing as a great deal of this repertoire contains them to various extents.
The Miriam Hyde or Margaret Surtherland Sonata's are very good and approachable, as is Collin Brumby's Sospiri and the Schulthorpe which has been mentioned.

Sorry i forgot to mention that I couldn't play certain things, and they are just suggestions i'm not gonna go and play everything. Its only up to 25 minutes.
I've got a copy of Hindson's Gameboy music, just never played it. Might run it by my teacher. Have had a look on AMC and found some good stuff.

(By limited library i'm guessing you might be out in Clayton? Go and look at Melbourne Uni library, much more stuff!)
