Differences between buffet basses

Hi there,

I was wandering if somebody can tell me the differences between the Buffet Bass Clarinet 1193 and 1193-2 and also the 1193-2-0.
I believe they are all called Prestige. Is that correct?
If so, what are the real issues??

Depending on their age, the keywork and some other features will be slightly different - some differences are:

Some will have a water key on the crook, some will have a different linkage from the throat A key to the speaker mechanism, some will have five keys for the RH pinky cluster whereas some will have six, the lower joint tonehole layout for the low C extension keys will either be inline or offset, they may have two or three RH thumb keys and the bells will be different - since around 1999 they have a longer bell bow with a vent hole for the low C.

Buffet used the 1193 model number for a long time but made changed which Chris mentioned. If I remember the 2 means silver plating but AFAIK this model always had silver plating even if it's just called 1193. You might just ignore he 2 and 0 and judge each on the features which changed over the years. With older version there are some differences in the response of clarion notes from E and above but this can be improved/fixed. The current version only has a very slight problem (also can be improved). The design of the low keys improved a lot too, both (objectively) more reliable and (subjectively) more comfortable. The register mechanism was changed too but the previous version works very well and reliable too.
