 1Stop Clarinet Shop
Author: Joe B
Date:   2010-03-15 22:31

I ordered Vandoren THICK black mouthpiece cushions VMC5, which was listed on the 1Stop Clarinet Sax Shop website. What they sent me was Vandoren THIN black mouthpiece cushions VMCX6. I notified 1Stop that was not what I ordered. They informed me Vandoren no longer makes the thick black cushion. I expressed my displeasure in them sending me something I did not order. I feel they should have asked if I would like to substitute something else in its place, such as BG thick black cushions, instead of sending something I did not want. They made no attempt to resolve the issue. Their reponse was "We will let Mr. Bernard Vandoren know your disappointment that they don't have the product you'd like to have". I hope others on this board have better dealings with 1Stop. I feel their response was a wise a** response. Has ayone else had negative dealings with 1Stop? I have ordered quite a bit from them in the past and it was always positive. I just don't feel their response is one of providing the best service for their customers.

This is no way to handle a customer with sarcasm answer. Very arrogant and rude. Did they say we are sorry for this mixed up or offer you to send it back on their expense for full refund or exchange for BG patch or something similar ?

I'm sure the moderators are checking to see if Joe B is affiliated with another shop?

If not, they shouldn't have attempted to fill your order with an item that was not even a substitute for it (like the BG thick would have been). Most companies would have informed you and cancelled your order then and there.

I've ordered quite a lot from them, and once I was shipped a sax pad saver instead of a neck strap (I think; the part # looked similar enough). I informed them about their error and suggested I keep it and get the next order without shipping charges and was promptly given a gift coupon code for my next order. Case closed...

I should have clarified that I am not affiliated with any other shop. I am a teacher and professional musician at the local Broadway type theater in our area.
They never said they were sorry for the mix up or offer any type of resolution. I have just never dealt with an outfit like that before. As I stated, my previous dealings have been positive, but then, I received the merchanise I ordered.

On the Vandoren homepage they list two patches one 0.35mm clear and one 0.8mm(thick) black. They should update their homepage before they stop making the thick one.

I was on SOTW recently and found someone asking about this shop. Replies are alarming.

Clarinet wise they are on the up and up.

I've ordered from them, and have had students order from them with never " a problem".

I used to order everything from them (their prices are good, and used to be even better), until several years ago, there was one time there was an issue (.. I don't even remember what exactly it was) and I emailed them but never got a response. And then I emailed them again and again, but still no response. Since then I got scared and stopped ordering stuffs from them.

They are known for their low prices, not their customer service. They have correctly filled numerous orders for me, but it generally takes a week for them to do it...

I had ordered from 1Stop in the past and found generally good prices.Their customer service was a bit lacking. I did not receive any correspondence on various questions, which seemed a little odd.

When I am dealing with internet sites I am a little more comfortable when they clearly have company info and contact info listed. The site always seemed a bit anonymous. It was a long time before I learned through a google search that the owner was Tai-Ling Gigliotti.

There are a lot of great places with terrific customer service if you have complaints or other issues. For a variety of reasons I have been doing my business with Muncy Winds for a while now. I am very pleased with prices, selection and their terrific customer service.

"the owner was Tai ling Gigliotti"

On the surface, that would seem fine.

Even though their prices are generally very low, I have not ordered anything from 1stop clarinet since reading a disturbing thread here last year.

Unfortunately, the link to the news story is no longer active.

Search the deleted link (google article) in archive.org to possibly get it.

Seems to me that if you comparison shop and opt for the low price source you should expect nothing more than just that. Affix 2 thins and use your imagination.

Have ordered from them many times and have never had "a problem". However, I will second the notion that their customer service is poor. Communication non-existent when something unusual happens (back orders and such). So my approach has been to order from them (prices are great) when I have absolutely no deadline at all to worry about.

David Blumberg state that "the owner was Tai ling Gigliotti"
I googled that name. Interesting reading.

To put a final statement to this thread, the purpose of the thread is to a.) Find out if anyone else has experienced a problem with 1Stop Clarinet Sax Shop customer service or is my experience an isolated incident and b.) Let 1Stop Clarinet Sax Shop read what others have to say about their service so they may have the opportunity to correct the situation.
They seem to have some of the best prices. As I stated in my original post, I haven't had a problem with them before, but then, everything I ordered was in stock and shipped. Every email I received from them ended with "Best regards, 1Stop Customer Service" never a name attached to the email in case you wanted to contact them. Possibly their smart remarks come from a disgruntled employee. They state in their website the best way to contact them is by email, not by phone. They just need to understand, unless they treat their customers properly, their customer base will diminish.

Joe

I think that it's actually only Anton who works there. Tai-Ling has her own shop and is part owner, but I don't think that she works there physically (it could be run out of their home).

I myself have never had any problems with 1stop. Once I ordered two boxes of reeds and I only recieved one box. They then sent me two more boxes to make up for it. That was a deal of $24. I was extremely happy with their service.

She's on suicide watch.

I'd loan her a rope......New, but could be returned slightly used.

So 1stop will probably stay open since good ole Angelo only got 5 years probation....

Anybody want to buy a blue, or red plastic Gigliotti Mouthpiece?

>>>Oh no - I just ordered from them!

You'll get your stuff. It might just take 15 years or so. If you ordered reeds, they should be nicely aged by that time. [rotate]

It may take 15-20 to get that order depending on time for good behavior.

And assuming the Buffet Mafia don't shank her in the shower.

Being a musician, I assume she will be kept at Sing Sing.
