I'm playing first on Procession to the End of Time. There are several glissandos and I'm completely clueless... any input on how to get started?

Search youtube, there are a number of instructional videos available that will help you. It takes time and practice to acquire a good gliss so take a lot of time experimenting with this.

First off, a practice method. Start working on hitting the overtone series WITHOUT using the register key. A lot of this has to do with controlling squeaks by changing your tongue position - the higher you go, the higher and more forward the middle part of your tongue should go. You should be able to hit four or five partials just by moving your tongue around in the oral cavity.
Secondly, work on bending pitches downward. Start on high C and bend the pitch down as far as you can go. Then B, then Bb, etc. As you work on doing upward glisses, you should have a loose embouchure as if you're trying to play the lower partial with a higher fingering, then sort of smear your fingers across the keys while fighting for the lower pitch. As you move towards higher and higher fingerings, you'll notice that your pitch becomes increasingly unstable and this is exactly what you want - the sounding pitch might be a couple of semitones lower than what you're fingering.
