has anyone ever posted a video on youtube? Because whenever i try to upload a video off the webcam it only publishes half of the video. Anyone have any experience with this?
And another question. How do you play without hearing your air? When i play loud it's slight enough listeners can't hear it, although i can hear it, and when i play soft, anyone can hear it.
UPDATE: ok what happens is the webcam will record me as long as im not making a sound. Lets say i shoot an 11 second video, and im silent for 4 secs and talk for 7. It will only publish the 4 seconds where i don't talk. And it doesn't have to be talking. It won't record any sound i make, be it talking, playing the clarinet, clapping my hands, etc..
Any1 have insight? thx alot.

YouTube has a limit of approximately 10 minutes, or maybe exactly 10 minutes. Anything longer than that you'll have to split.

If you're getting an airy sound when you play softly, it's likely that your reeds are either too hard or they are out of balance and need adjustment.
A good reed will let you play softly without too much airiness.

I'm no expert by ANY means but in experimenting around, I took an obstinate reed and very carefully scraped dust like particles off the top with a single edge razor blade. That reed became responsive and usable.

I just use really, really fine sandpaper. (minimum grit 340, and that only for hugely unbalanced reeds).

The Rico Reserve, Classic, and Evolution (Grand Concert also for that matter) are balanced really well. And almost all of them play right out of the box with hardly any work if that.
I'm an artist for them, but am because they are that good, not for the millions of $$$

I use a single edge razor blade to work with cantankerous reeds, and have great success with it. My father played in the big bands and he said that is what the reed players did back in those days.

Although slightly of topic I feel obliged to mention "Passion" reeds from Reeds Australia. WWBW sells them and my, admittedly, small experience is that a bad one in a box is a rare find.

One of the most important lessons I gained from this forum was the realisation that reeds are just dried pieces of grass and expecting any reed to play straight from the box was just plain stupid.
They get transported all round the world, they get dried, then humidified, go below freezing in the holds of planes, then heated up again.
Make sure the base is perfectly flat with some fine sandpaper, hold it up to the light and check that it's symmetrical or scrape the tip gently until it is.
When the first woodwind players crawled out of their primaeval swamps, I don't think they had any fancy reed balancing tools.

So they used reed rush (serious point made in a humourous way)
Someone will now tell me reed rush is not a swamp plant
