What is a good intermediate clarinet
Author: newmanda

My daughter has been playing clarinet for 4 years. She is only 12 but I am interested in purchasing a new, better quality clarinet for her. I know nothing about clarinets so I am looking for some help.

Backun Bliss models are pretty good, the Yamaha 600 series, and the Ridenour Lyrique has a very good scale from the reviews.

Yamaha online prices will look outrageous, but are always lower at the point of sale.

http://www.wwbw.com is a good site to shop.

and

http://shop.weinermusic.com/ are good too.

For the ridenour clarinets, look at the 576 bc. You can find it here: http://www.ridenourclarinetproducts.com/Bbclarpg.html .

I play on one of these instruments, and it will serve your daughter well for years to come. It's the best value in a new, high-level clarinet today.

Yep.... good questions. I was rushed this morning and didn't bother to ask those questions.

You can get a vintage professional clarinet for less money than a new intermediate clarinet, but if you go that route you should have access to a reliable repair technician.

I don't know what your budget is and whether you want to buy new only or if used is an option.

If used IS an option after all, looking for an Evette Master Model or Evvet and Schaffer Master Model would be a great choice that would last your daughter for a very long time to come -- certainly until she decides how far she wants to take her clarinet career in college (or not).Molloy wrote:
