Does anyone recognise this clarinet in the Gigliotti Silk Swab's picture at 1stop? I can't seem to find it or a reference to it anywhere else on the internet...

Were they marketed as the E11 in the US?
In the UK they were stamped B12 and sold for the same price as the standard model.

... then the lower joint remains fogged up for the duration while the mouthpiece, barrel and upper part of the top joint go clear, and the areas where the fingers and RH thumb are in contact with the joint also go clear.
But to a greater or lesser degree depending on the temperature.
With crystal mouthpieces, they fog up when you begin playing when the mouthpiece is still cold, but soon clear as the mouthpiece warms up.

"fog up". Probably, just like your wood one does and like the acrylic Pyne mouthpieces do. Blummy: You'll just have to tongue your jokes more precisely in the future instead of keeping your tongue in your cheek.

There was a nice one on Ebay a few years ago and I was seriously thinking of getting it, just to have in my studio to show students.
I prepared to pay $800 and maybe go as high as $1000, which I thought was certainly fair, considering it's only a glorified B12.

A fellow music teacher who I taught with in the same school had one. (so there's 3 accounted for)
Her father had owned a music store (and sold Buffet clarinets) and I suspect that these dealers had the inside track in acquiring these clarinets.
Actually it did play a bit better than today's Buffet B-12's.
Maybe it was because of the copper plated keys. ![[wink]](http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/smileys/smilie3.gif)

Yes, and he also explained the difference. With the transparent clarinet anyone can see if you play the wrong notes.....
