There are two schools of thought with regard to barrels:
1) You should use two different barrels (usually 66mm Bb, 65 mm A) because the closer you get to the mouthpiece, the more impact adjustments and tube length has on pitch.
2) You should use the same barrel on both instruments as the bore differential between the Bb and A at this portion of the clarinet has negligible impact on the pitch and response.
I have heard good players using both methods so do not have any opinion on what is better.
Good Luck.

Depends also on what works for the player (barrel, mouthpiece, clarinet) and the effect both have on it.
Having a warmed up barrel is good, but not if it impacts the intonation badly overall.
Or, just pull out all the joints on your Bb Clarinet and hope for the best (ya know, the old attempt we all did when we were trying to play something in A and didn't have one yet).....

I use Kalmen Opperman's barrels, which he has made individually to match my R-13 Bb and A, with me sitting in his studio and testing each tweak. He adjusts each barrel to work best with the player's mouthpiece, clarinet, playing style and preferences.
I would love to have a barrel that works well on both instruments, but Kal says he uses a different bore shape for Bb and A barrels and that one doesn't work well with the other instrument. Certainly that's been my experience. Guy Chadash says the same thing.
However, for my 1908 Buffet pair, Kal made a barrel that works very well on both. At least at that time, Buffet's Bb and A barrel lengths were the same -- 68 or 69 mm.
