I know this is sacrilege but I am in a bind.
I have been asked last minute to play 2nd in the Robert Levin completion of the requiem and there are only basset horn parts.
I have two options and I need your help:
1- Find 2 basset horns (the 1st player does not have one either). I am in the Boston area any tips contact info would be great.
2- Play the parts on the clarinet. Since I am too incompetent to sight-transpose a major third down (to A) or fourth (to Bb), I need to transcribe the parts. Please tell me someone on this board has done it already!!
Concert is 5/8 so there is some urgency to this.
Thank you!
PS: I know it is sacrilegeous to play it on the clarinet, but at this point I may not have a choice.
