Does anybody know Nino Rota's 'Sonata in D' for A clarinet?
Did you like it?
What level is it?
Is there a site on the net where I can listen to it, or perhaps go through some pages?

An enjoyable work. There are some difficult passages within the movements but I would put it on par with the Schumann Fantasy Pieces (or there abouts).
Rota was a strong melodist, and c'mon: you have to perform a clarinet sonata written by the composer of the Godfather's music!

"...I'm going to make him a sonata that he can't refuse..."
...Just to add:
The third mvt is written in common time but the feel is more like cut time. There is a nasty section of sixteenth note arpeggiations that are in the key of Bb minor.
