An enjoyable work. There are some difficult passages within the movements but I would put it on par with the Schumann Fantasy Pieces (or there abouts).
Rota was a strong melodist, and c'mon: you have to perform a clarinet sonata written by the composer of the Godfather's music!

...Just to add:
The third mvt is written in common time but the feel is more like cut time. There is a nasty section of sixteenth note arpeggiations that are in the key of Bb minor.
