Is this some kind of joke?
1. It is weekend. Allow him a day or two off.
2. I was able to find out his phone # and email addy in five minutes, and I don't even live on the same continent nor did I know until three minutes ago what part of the world to look at.

Oh, I don't think Ben was expressing anger....just some Swiss humour.

Yeah, it is often confused.
But maybe you give us some more detail? Like in "when did you last see him?" and so on. We'd gladly pull you out of the swamp, but we'd prefer you throw us a rope.

Absolutely! In most parts of Europe the weekend is taken very seriously.
Especially in Germany and Switzerland.
Anyone trying to find a shop open after 12.00 on Saturday is officially insane and has to pay incredibly expensive fines.
France varies depending on the town, and the quality of the local wine.
Steve
PS The UK is basically a McDonalds-Murdoch franchise, so different rules apply.

Our shops are open till 8pm on weekdays and 5 or 6pm on saturdays.
But office businesses stay closed over the weekend. And calling a teacher or a professor on a weekend is indeed frowned upon.

...And I just finished teaching for the day!
I just didn't realize how rude my students were...

Look, all I want to do is contact an old professor of mine and see how he is. Is there anyone who can genuinely help me?
Thanks,

Well is it that one? How would we know? The name is not exactly rare.

Recently, Larry McDonald was the clarinet professor at Baldwin-Wallace College, outside of Cleveland. I notice that he has since left, but this is within the past year and a half or so, I do believe. Maybe try contacting someone at the B-W Conservatory to find out where he is now.

How long ago were you a student of Larry McDonald's? I am a B-W grad, and former student of David Bell, who knew Larry McDonald well. While I was at B-W, Bell went on sabbatical and McDonald filled in for him. I remember McDonald being a pretty great instructor (as was Bell)!

Ben-
Every professional clarinetist in America knows who Larry McDonald is. If you don't have anything useful to write, keep your hand off the post button.

feadog79-
I studied with Mr McDonald in the early 1990's. I don't think I can speak too highly of him as he was a truly great teacher. Not only was he very, very intelligent but I also found him highly sensitive to his students. There just aren't many teachers like that. I'm just embarrassed that I've let our friendship lapse. BTW Mr. Bell returned the favor and taught me for a semester that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Define early 90's...lol...I graduated Oberlin in 1990, and am also embarrassingly out-of-touch with him...
