 Jimmy Yan's health update...
Author: John J. Moses
Date:   2007-09-06 16:54

Hello friends of Jimmy Yan:

I spoke briefly to Jimmy yesterday. He sounded weak, but in good spirits.

His medical treatments are working, and although he is weak, he is improving rapidly.

Jimmy said, "I will be back in my shop in October, tell them that."

I suspect he will try his hardest to do that, but it may not be until late October. I told him, jokingly, see you for Halloween! He laughed a bit, so I felt good about Jimmy and the call.

We need to all band together with positive healing thoughts for Jimmy. He is a fighter and a survivor, but he needs our support. Whatever you believe, do it for Jimmy's renewed health.

PS Get well cards or whatever, will get to Jimmy's home if sent to his shop address in NYC.

John, if you see Jimmy please let him know that my thoughts and prayers are with him for a full recovery and continued good health. Jimmy is one of the true gems in the woodwind community and one of the most kind and humble people that I have ever met. He has helped me in innumerable ways not only with his technical expertise but also with sharing his knowledge and giving me continued support through the years.

As I said in an earlier post:

Jimmy Yan is currently undergoing treatment for a serious medical condition.

We hope he will return to his great clarinet repair shop in NYC in the near future.

He is resting at home and not going into his NYC shop at this time. His work phone is not accepting any additional messages.

More news on Jimmy's condition will be made available whenever it is possible.

The importance of Mr. Yan's work in the NY metropolitan area is most certainly very indispensable. I had my Selmer Signature serviced by him a few years ago and it was in all aspects a pleasant experience. Best wishes towards a quick recovery.

Thanks, John--that's great news, and a big relief. Gotta keep those healing vibes going his way, though--I won't relax until I see him back at the bench with my own eyes.

All my best thoughts for Jimmy. A superb technician and extremely creative. My horns were completely re-worked by Jimmy and I can't think of any way they could possibly be better. A true gentleman.
