Who has some in stock? I've heard that not many do have any in stock?

Buffet Moennig barrels are rather scarce right now. The lead time to get them from Buffet is 3 to 6 months.

According to Guy Chadash, the Moennig and Chadash barrels supplied by Buffet both have a reverse taper, smaller at the bottom than the top. They have the same diameter at the bottom, but the Moennig is larger at the top and thus has a more severe taper. The tapered bore improves tuning and focuses the tone.
Guy says that Moennig himself used the greater taper but also made the barrel's top socket deeper, which increased the volume of the bore due to the gap between the mouthpiece tenon and the bottom of the socket. Buffet's Moennig barrels don't have the deep socket and thus don't work as well as the Chadash barrels, which are designed to have no gap and have a compensating adjustment of the taper. See http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=20&i=289&t=289 at the MOENNIG VS. CHADASH BARRELS section.
Thus if you can't find a Buffet Moennig barrel, it would be worthwhile trying the Buffet Chadash.

Keep in mind that the more severe "older" taper Moennig barrels
were designed to correct for the problems of the day. There were musicians using mouthpieces with wider exit bores that were designed for other clarinet brands.
Additionally, Moennig would adjust the bell tenon length to compensate for acoustical changes when his barrel was adopted.
Since that time, the bores and mouthpiece chambers have evolved, as well as register tube placement, etc.
All this should be considered when picking up a barrel of any make.

I bought one from Weiner music from their website. It's tested of course. Took less than a week by mail.
