Hello everyone! I have come across a M. LaCroix wooden clarinet. I would like to find out information about this instrument. Do any of you have an idea where I should look? The interesting part is that it only has 12 keys on it and no rings on the upper or lower joint (no bridge keys). It is made of grenadilla wood, and I assume it was made sometime during the 20th century. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Sandy

I've overhauled a few clarinets labelled M. Lacroix (a couple of Bb and one A soprano, as well as a bass) and all were thoroughly modern, standard Boehm instruments with a full complement of keys (in fact, one of the Bb clarinets was a 'full-Boehm" instrument) -- so no clue as to your 'simplified' clarinet. A few photos would be helpful. I believe I read somewhere that "M. Lacroix" was a brand applied by a distributor to various French-made clarinets imported into the US during the 1940s or so, but I'm not sure of that.
