I just purchased a Planet Waves small intrument humidifer for my 3 month old Yamaha CSG. On Saturday, I filled it with water and put in in the case Saturday night. Sunday evening, I opened the case and to my surprise, the entire clarinet body was covered in visible condensation. I quickly wiped if off. I hope that there was no ill effect on the bore or the keys, springs, etc. Any thoughts on why this happened? Is there a better humidifier that I should use?

I use 1 or 2 dampits (Large Bass) and a small humidity gague. I place the dampits in the case besdie the instrument so if water leaks out of the dampits it will not go onto or in the clarinet. I monitor the gague and it seems to work fine for me .
Good Luck RAB

Welcome to the [possibly] low-humidity season when wooden-bodied instruments MAY need humidification. We have discussed this many winters, so a Search will retrieve these threads/posts. I might suggest having a room "Weather Center" [temp, barometer and Humidity gauges] near to where your insts. are stored, so as to add humidification when needed. For me this % Relative Humidity is between 35 and 40 %, and avoiding wide "swings" is, to me, a good idea. Luck and hopefully NO cracks, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
