york clarinet?

I have a wooden clarinet I purchased and played back around 1979. The model is not totally known by me, but it has "York" and "76" inscribed in gold lettering on the instrument. Has anybody ever heard of this or may have some input on its history or what it's worth?

I see that York is slightly known, and with the gold still surviving, and 76, might it be a Bicentennial model?? Don

Hi,

My guess is a clarinet from the House of York, a band instrument maker, which as far as I remember was in Grand Rapids, MI. Good instruments but I do not recall any professional grade woodwinds.
